Week 4: Walking in Light
Theme Verse:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
Welcome & Intentional Start
Let’s begin this time by focusing our hearts and minds on the Lord.
Opening Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being our light in the darkness. Open our eyes to Your truth today. Help us to trust Your Word to guide us, step by step. Draw us closer to You as we learn to walk in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Worship
Choose from these worship songs and Scripture to prepare your heart:
-
“Thy Word” – Amy Grant
-
“This Little Light of Mine” (traditional or modern version)
-
Psalm 27:1 – "The Lord is my light and my salvation…"
Let the music and Scripture remind you that God’s presence lights your way.
Scripture Reading
Start with the theme verse, Psalm 119:105.
To go deeper, consider reading Psalm 119:101–112, which focuses on loving and following God’s Word.
Discussion & Reflection
Reflect on or discuss these questions:
-
What does it mean for God’s Word to be a lamp and a light in your life?
-
Can you think of a time when Scripture gave you direction or peace?
-
Are there areas in your life where you need more of God’s guidance?
Prayer Time
Invite the Holy Spirit to lead you as you pray. Pray alone, with a partner, or as a group.
Prayer Prompts:
-
Thank God for giving us His Word.
-
Ask for wisdom and clarity in decisions you're facing.
-
Pray for a deeper love and hunger for Scripture.
Breaking Bread (Optional)
If you are taking communion:
As you partake of the bread and cup, reflect on the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself so we could walk in truth and freedom.
Challenge for the Week
Pick one verse of Scripture to meditate on or memorize this week. Write it down and keep it where you’ll see it daily.
Ask God each morning:
“Show me how to walk in Your light today.”
Closing Thought
“In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
— John 1:4–5
May His Word continue to guide your steps and brighten your path all week long.
