Week 8: Love is Patient

Theme Verse:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:4 (NIV)

Welcome & Intentional Start

Let’s come into this time with open hearts, ready to receive from the Lord.

Opening Prayer:
Lord, thank You for showing us perfect love through Jesus. Teach us what it means to love patiently and kindly. Help us to grow in humility and grace, and to reflect Your character in our relationships. In Jesus' name, amen.

Worship

Here are some songs and a psalm that speak of love and grace:

  • “Love Like This” – Lauren Daigle

  • “Reckless Love” – Cory Asbury

  • Psalm 86:15 – "But You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness."

Let your worship be a reflection of the patient and kind love God has shown you.

Scripture Reading

Start with the theme verse, 1 Corinthians 13:4.
Then consider reading the full context in 1 Corinthians 13:1–8 to reflect on the full picture of biblical love.

Discussion & Reflection

Use these questions to guide your thoughts or conversation:

  1. What does patience look like in daily life and relationships?

  2. How can we grow in patience when love is tested?

  3. Why do you think love is described this way—before any other traits?

Prayer Time

Take time to pray over your relationships, your heart, and your desire to love well.

Prayer Prompts:

  • Ask God to help you be patient with others—and yourself.

  • Pray for healing in relationships where patience has worn thin.

  • Thank God for His patience with you.

Breaking Bread (Optional)

If sharing communion this week:

As you remember Christ’s sacrifice, consider His great patience and love for us—even while we were still sinners. Let this moment renew your heart with grace.

Challenge for the Week

Look for one moment each day where you can pause and respond with patience.

Practice this prayer when challenged:
“Lord, help me to love with patience and kindness.”

Closing Thought

“Let all that you do be done in love.”
— 1 Corinthians 16:14

This week, may your love reflect the patience and kindness of the One who loves you perfectly.
