Week 7: Forgiveness

Theme Verse:

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
— Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

Welcome & Intentional Start

Let’s quiet our hearts and invite the Holy Spirit to lead this time together.

Opening Prayer:
Father, thank You for the gift of forgiveness through Jesus. Help us today to understand the depth of that gift and to extend it to others. Soften our hearts where we have been hurt, and teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Worship

Let these songs and Scripture lead you into worship and reflection:

  • “Forgiveness” – Matthew West

  • “Mercy” – Elevation Worship

  • Psalm 103:8–12 – A reminder of God’s great mercy and forgiveness

Worship is a powerful way to let go of bitterness and open up to healing.

Scripture Reading

Begin with the theme verse, Ephesians 4:32.
Then read Ephesians 4:25–5:2 for a fuller understanding of living as God’s beloved children—kind, compassionate, and forgiving.

Discussion & Reflection

Reflect on or discuss these questions:

  1. What does it mean to forgive as God has forgiven you?

  2. Is there someone in your life you need to forgive, or from whom you need to seek forgiveness?

  3. How can forgiveness free both your heart and your relationships?

Prayer Time

Use this time to bring your heart before the Lord, especially any areas where forgiveness is needed.

Prayer Prompts:

  • Ask God to reveal any unforgiveness in your heart.

  • Pray for strength to release bitterness and hurt.

  • Thank Jesus for the forgiveness you have in Him.

Breaking Bread (Optional)

As you remember Christ’s sacrifice, reflect on the cost of your forgiveness. Let this moment deepen your gratitude and renew your commitment to forgive others as you have been forgiven.

Challenge for the Week

This week, take one step toward forgiveness—whether it’s letting go of a grudge, reaching out to someone, or praying for healing.

Each day, pray:
“Lord, help me to forgive as You have forgiven me.”

Closing Thought

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
— Colossians 3:13

May the peace of Christ rule in your hearts as you walk in forgiveness this week.
