Week 6: Loving Others
Theme Verse:
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
— Matthew 22:39 (NIV)
Welcome & Intentional Start
Let’s prepare our hearts to hear from God and walk in His love.
Opening Prayer:
Lord, thank You for showing us how to love through the life of Jesus. Help us today to grow in compassion and kindness. Open our eyes to the needs of those around us, and teach us to love selflessly, just as You love us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Worship
Use these songs and a psalm to help set the tone for this week’s theme:
-
“By Our Love” – For King & Country or Christy Nockels
-
“The Proof of Your Love” – For King & Country
-
Psalm 15 – A reminder of living with integrity and love toward others
Let the worship point you toward what it means to live out love in action.
Scripture Reading
Begin with the theme verse, Matthew 22:39.
For a broader understanding, read Matthew 22:36–40, where Jesus teaches that loving God and loving others are the two greatest commandments.
Discussion & Reflection
Take time to think about or discuss these questions:
-
Who is your “neighbor” according to Jesus’ teaching?
-
What makes it hard to love others at times, and how can God help?
-
What does it look like to love someone with your actions, not just words?
Prayer Time
Invite God to show you areas where you can grow in love and grace.
Prayer Prompts:
-
Ask God to help you see others the way He sees them.
-
Pray for someone in your life who is difficult to love.
-
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your words and actions this week.
Breaking Bread (Optional)
If taking communion this week:
Remember the love Christ showed by giving Himself for you. As you break bread and drink the cup, recommit to walking in His love and letting that love pour out into your relationships.
Challenge for the Week
Do one intentional act of love or kindness each day this week.
It could be a note, a prayer, a small gift, a kind word, or an act of service.
Ask yourself:
“How can I love my neighbor today?”
Closing Thought
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
— 1 John 3:18
May your life be a reflection of His love, reaching hearts one person at a time.
