Week 5: God’s Love

Theme Verse:

“We love because He first loved us.”
— 1 John 4:19 (NIV)

Welcome & Intentional Start

Take a moment to quiet your heart and invite God into your time of worship.

Opening Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving us so completely and unconditionally. Help us to receive that love today and reflect it in how we live and how we treat others. May Your love shape our hearts, our homes, and our words. In Jesus' name, amen.

Worship

Here are some songs and Scripture to reflect on God's incredible love:

  • “How He Loves” – David Crowder Band

  • “Your Love Never Fails” – Jesus Culture

  • Psalm 136:1 – "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever."

Let the lyrics and Scripture soak in and remind you of how deeply you are loved.

Scripture Reading

Start with the theme verse, 1 John 4:19.
Then read 1 John 4:7–21 to see the fuller picture of God's love and how we are called to love one another.

Discussion & Reflection

Use these questions for personal reflection or group discussion:

  1. What does it mean to you that God loved you first?

  2. How has God shown His love to you in your life?

  3. In what ways can you reflect God’s love to others this week?

Prayer Time

Spend time in prayer, either silently or aloud, thanking God for His love and asking Him to help you love others.

Prayer Prompts:

  • Thank God for His perfect love that casts out fear.

  • Confess any areas where it's been hard to love others.

  • Ask for a fresh filling of God's love to overflow into your relationships.

Breaking Bread (Optional)

If you are sharing communion this week:

As you take the bread and cup, remember the greatest act of love—Jesus laying down His life for you. Let this moment remind you of the depth of His love and the invitation to love like He does.

Challenge for the Week

Each day this week, intentionally show love to someone—through words, actions, or prayer.

Ask yourself daily:
“How can I reflect God's love today?”

Closing Thought

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
— 1 John 4:16

Walk in the confidence of His love, and let that love lead everything you do this week.
