Week 1: New Beginnings
Theme Verse:
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
Welcome & Intentional Start
Take a moment to quiet your heart and invite the Holy Spirit into this time of worship and reflection.
“Lord, thank You for the gift of a new beginning. We set aside this time for You. Help us focus our hearts and minds on Your truth. Make us more like Jesus as we meet with You now. Amen.”
Worship
Choose 1–3 songs that reflect on themes of renewal, surrender, and new life. You can sing together, listen to music, or read a psalm aloud.
Suggested Songs:
-
"This Is a Move" – Tasha Cobbs / Brandon Lake
-
"I Surrender All" – Hymn
Psalm Option: Psalm 40:1–3
Scripture Reading
Read 2 Corinthians 5:17 together. You may also want to include verses 14–21 for added context.
Reflect quietly for a moment after reading.
Discussion & Reflection
Use these questions to guide your conversation or personal journaling:
-
What does it mean to be a new creation in Christ?
-
Is there anything you're holding onto from the "old" that God is asking you to release?
-
How can we step into our new identity in Christ this week?
Prayer Time
Take turns praying aloud, or pray silently if you're alone. Thank God for making all things new. Ask for strength to walk in your new identity.
Optional Prompts:
-
Thank God for areas of growth and change in your life.
-
Pray for anyone who needs a fresh start.
-
Invite the Lord to continue transforming your heart and mind.
Breaking Bread (Optional)
If you feel led, share communion together. It doesn't need to be formal—just bread and a cup in remembrance of Jesus.
“Do this in remembrance of Me.” —Luke 22:19
Challenge for the Week
This week, reflect on the idea that you are a new creation in Christ. Try writing out a list of things you want to leave behind and a list of promises from God to walk in.
Consider memorizing 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Closing Thought
"And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’" —Revelation 21:5
May this week be filled with fresh vision, renewed hope, and deep gratitude for the new life we have in Christ.
